The Fraser Valley Chapter hosts up to two workshops a year with exceptional artists. Information and registration for the next upcoming workshop will be posted as soon as the instructors have been booked for the coming year.

Colouring Outside the Lines: Painting loose and lively landscapes with Perry Haddock, SFCA

As with most of Perry’s workshops, his primary goal is to encourage participants to approach landscape painting with an experimental attitude and the idea that, ‘It’s only ten bucks worth of materials. Have some fun. Colour outside the lines!’

That isn’t to say that painting doesn’t require some knowledge of the principles of design and some discipline to apply them. However, sometimes the anxiety of thinking we have to produce a ‘finished product’ often results in tight drawing, tight brushwork, and slavish attention to photo sources. Instead, let’s aim to challenge ourselves to ‘loosen up.’
